Week 85 Update!

Bueno pues… It was my first week with Elder Balboa (my new companion) here in the Libertad. Yes, I’m still here, I’ve had five companions so far in my time here, so it’s most likely that in five weeks at the end of this transfer I’ll be moved to a new area. Its been a fun week. My companion is a great guy and makes the work even more enjoyable. He is from Bolivia (between Peru and Chile), he is 22 years old and this week will complete a year in the mission. It’s cool too because unlike so many of my past companions he wants to learn English, so I’ve been teaching for an hour every morning up on the white board. And its crazy because I’m learning things about English and even Spanish as I teach.

We have been visiting and teaching a bunch of less active members and it is so great because we are starting to see many of them reactivate and come to church again.
We had interviews this last week with President Faundez and he let me know the for sure date that I will be home, the 10th of May! He also said that this upcoming transfer he wants to send me back to a Kekchi area to finish off my mission, so I’m excited for that because I honestly love that language so much and have studied it hard my entire mission.

“It is only when we love God and Christ with all of our hearts, souls, and minds that we are able to share this love with our neighbors through acts of kindness and service—the way that the Savior would love and serve all of us if He were among us today. When this pure love of Christ—or charity—envelops us, we think, feel, and act more like Heavenly Father and Jesus would think, feel, and act.”

—M. Russell Ballard, “Finding Joy through Loving Service
